Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars) to prevent cavities. They block out food particles and bacteria from settling into the deep grooves and pits of the teeth, making them an effective preventive measure, especially for children and teenagers.
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a liquid treatment used to stop the progression of tooth decay. It works by killing the bacteria that cause decay, hardening the softened tooth structure, and helping to prevent further cavities. SDF is often used for patients who can’t tolerate traditional fillings or need a non-invasive option.
Both sealants and SDF are valuable tools in preventive dentistry, helping to protect and preserve natural teeth.
